So first up we thought we'd start up with introductions of who each of the contributors of the blog are. The basic idea been that you guys will get to know our taste's and be able to rely on us and a source of good music. So we're each going to post a brief bit about ourselves and a top 5 songs of 2009. but before we get started I'd like to say that 2009 is the year we heard the tracks not necessarily the time of release, however from now on we will endeavour to make the majority of our posts up to date, fresh and close to release date.
FLAV;
About Me;
Hey so basically my tastes revolve mostly around dubstep. In the past few years my musical tastes have gone from heavy metal to dance music and then finally to my higher power discovery of dubstep. I Sleep, Eat and Breathe Dubstep and are more often then not ahead of or right on the curve. I LIke everything from the Dubstep Soundscape from the Floor Destroying Bangers to the chillout Dub-Tech movement of recent days and will try to post a wide variety of everything from everywhere. I also like my Techno and Drum and Bass however Ouch will be taking Most of these responsibilities on. So Here's my Top Five of 2009;
The first time i heard this track was actually in a dingy little melbourne club when the man himself Emalkay played it as his last track of both his set and the night. Sweaty and Running out of energy I was absolutely taken away by the dream like trance over tones of the song as the 4/4 subbass wobble somehow managed to muster a few more minutes of dancing out of me. After that night it tok me several months to track down the actual track, and has since become my favourite end of a set track as well as a song that both reminds me of that amazing night and perplexes me with the ammount of atmospheric emotion it conveys.

The Streets - Blinded by the Lights (Nero Remix)
This song i admit snuck in to this top 5 more for a combination of reasons than the just the power of the track itself. Firstly this track in its original form is one of my fvourites if not the favourite track of my all time music library. Furthermore this track gets another leg up i that it is one of the highlights on the soundtrack to one of my favourite films of all time, Kidulthood (Check It), so in my eyes it was allready an amazing track and had somewhat of a soft spot in my heart. Then all that it neeed was for a musical god such as Nero to get his claws in to it and give it some dance floor playability and it was destined forever to be a favourite. The lyrical duet of the rough rapping male vocals and a melodic female voice pairs with the music as it follows it own duet of sorts with dreany passionate emotion filled synths binding with rib cage shuddering subbass drops. The end result is a perfect combination of lyrics, d-floor worthyness and emotion, an amazing product of two artists work and a lesson in how to remix.

Synkro - Angels
This track was one of those songs tht put a smile on my face as soon as I heard it on Dubstep FM. A week later plsyed it to the group to a resounding approval and from that day on its become a group favourite and a regular of the pre-drinks and house parties we have on a weekly basis. The unassuming introduction to the track suggests nothing of the overall power of the song which is to come. as soon as the songs hits its stride it treats your ears to an amazing combination of organic almost bird call sounding background synths, a great vocal sample which has been lifted from a Vex'd track of the same name. But the zicing on the cake and the part of the track that makes it as good as it is, is the electronic punchy kicks that roll through the song it sets of four creating a track that is memourable and given it (atleast within our group) the right to be known as a banger.

UltraBlack - Bear Trap (Excision Remix)
This track I find is rather hard to explain at great length due to its apparent simplicity. However its simplicity is by no means a a downfall, as the track is a case of finding something good rinsing and repeating over and over for the duration of the track, without ever getting old. The orignal by UltraBlack was a rather good song in its own right, however as soon as Excision got his bass carved claws into it the tune came out of his workshop with a proud badge on its chest reading "CHUNE!!!". That's all I have to say really as the song really needs to be heard to be believed and realised as one of the heaviest Dubstep songs of all time. Enjoy...

Chase & Status ft. Plan B - Pieces
This track is amazingly eclectic, combining well chosen lyrics from the talents of Plan-B accompanied by an accoustic guitar which evolves into an aggresive rappping before drum and bass kicks rise from the depths of the track and burst into an all at peek time drum and bass raver. The best thing about this track though is the emotion conveyed by Plan-b's lyrics, the story that is been told and lastly the amazing film clip featuring both Chase & Status and Plan-B which further conveys the story line. This song yet another addition to the back catalogue of Chase & Status and rises them higher in the echelons of DnB, while carrying Plan-B into the limelight where he belongs.

About Me;
I have a ever-transforming taste in dance music one week I'll be listening to dnb and dubstep, next thing I know a song will spark my interest in tech-house and i will be on beatort for a week downloading tracks from that genre. Due to my rapidly changing tastes I will be posting music from all corners of the dance music scene but always of the highest quality. Here are my top 5 Choons of 2009;

Tiga - What You Need (Proxy Remix)
Proxy is hands down my favourite producer, so it was just a matter of which song he released last year that would make into my top 5. "What You Need" is how remixes are meant to work, take the basic idea and integrity of a good tune and throw the rest out the window. Proxy has kept the original vocal sample and treated us to one of the meanest and finely crafted remixes of '09.

Vitalic - Second Lives
Vitalic is a musical genius and this is his finest work yet. His ability to draw raw emotion from electronic music is what separates him from the rest of the pack. The song seems like any tropical roller and then a drum and kick sparks the melody into frenzy. This song is on ecstacy, one minute flying higher than a kite and then dropping down into a polar opposite comedown. There is something intricate and masterful about this piece of music that can only be described as pure genius.

Erol Alkan & Boys Noize - Waves
When I first heard that these two Grand Daddy's of Electro would be collaborating I knew something special was a brewing. However I had no idea of how incredible "Waves" would turn out to be. The clean basskicks, bongo like breakdown and trumpet/fart sounding synth along with some classic techno washing work as one creating pure electronic bliss. The long running time seems to float by as your are taken along for an epic adventure across the high seas.

Reso - Armored Core
Banger is a term tossed around a lot these day's but one that stood out for me last year was from Dubstep heavyweight Reso. I heard this toon played by the man himself and literally lost the plot (Power Extreme). What he delivers is a helicopter turning, machine grinding driven bass line that is pure evil, it would make Saddam himself rollover in his grave. I credit this song for turning me into a dubstep loving fool.

Sub Focus - Let the Story Begin
Almost every track from Sub Focuses LP could have made it into my top 5, but the pure insanity of the opening tune Let The Story Begin has changed my perspective of how effective and influential a Drum and Bass tune can be. From bold orchestral beginning to high pitched lunacy, the drum kicks slowly speed up and the electro bass-line begins. The eerie wind down gives the listener a quick breather and then throws you right back into the madness. Check out the rest of Sub Focuses self titled album for DnB gold.

THE PLUMBER;
About The Plumber;
The Plumber is a mate of ours who while wont be contributing directly to the blog will be telling us his favourite songs of the fortnight and we will be updating it for him and for you guys on the blog. He basically is our latest project as we attempt to model him into a mean underground genre dancing machine. As he comes from a background of generic House as well as Hardstyle Dance he is the perfect exmple of someone who is just starting to get into the gems of the music world in Dubstep, DnB and Techno. His favourite songs usually end up been songs that either are the biggest of a set during a night out or tunes that have clear cut traditional musical structure applied to the dance scene with a vocal hook. For his first piece of input we've just asked him to tell us what his one favourite tune of 2009 was;

Emalkay - When I Look at You
This Track is truly an amazing song. Emalkay's second Track in our songs of 2009 this one was and is one of the most succesful Dubstep songs of all time. It exploded of the scene once it was released gaining world wide attention and play time in sets of Dj's from every discipline. The song revolves around one short vocal hook (the title of the track) and a catchy high pitch synthesiser creating an atmospheric tune that is always a crowd pleaser and a dance floor destroyer leaving everybody inside the club sweating and screaming for a rewind.
