104 Nights in a Year

104 Nights the Underground Sound!

Basically this blog is all about those off you who live for nothing more then the best beats of dnb, dubstep, future beat as well as the rest of the dance spectrum. We really would like if you guys would subscribe or become followers, as well as leave comments in order for us to know that people are both looking at and hopefully enjoying the blog. The concept in the name of the blog is beacause personally we only really live roughly 104 night in a year in ourselves and those are the 52 fridays and 52 saturdays in each year, where we can drink up dance and listen to all our favourite chunes on speaker rigs way beyond what we could have in our houses. Big Up! and enjoy the beats...

Ouch! Time to Drop Some Knowledge Pt 2

Ive been busting my gut as of late too keep on top of the amount of music I've been downloading, but there just isn't enough time in the day too truly enjoy and appreciate all of it. So I have sifted through it all and here's what has come up trumps.

Dj Madd possibly the most exciting Dubstep producer of the moment, he has just completed his latest Ep 'Not Afraid'. With a focus on old school sub-bass combined with top notch production the music he's making is just so darn good. Combining enough atmospheric emptiness as to not overcrowd the intricate/rhythmic percussion layers.

Also featuring recently on Matt-U's 'The Running Man' Ep their team up on the tune Dub Marine has become a favourite in the 104 studio.
This Madd man is definitely on the way up, so support him by buying his Not Afraid Ep on Lime Dubs imprint, available on beatport now.

Until then have a listen to his track Tonight, Big Up Hush House for this one.

It seem's our favourite Dubstep personality Benga may have cleaned up his act. With limited releases in 2009, already in 2010 we've seen partneships with Walsh, Hatcha, Distance, Dj Zinc and his Phaze One ep.
Tired of having none of his own music to play out he's been spending plenty of time in the studio to make up for lost time. His latest Stop Watching/Little Bits with a similar flair to the kind of music he was making on his 'Diary of an Afro Warrior' was released, he has come up with some real cheeky choons.

Midrange Maniac Doctor P's next anthem Badman Sound get's an official release on Caspa's DubPolice Records, with Trolley Snatcher's Slow Down the B side. With the same basic structure that made Sweet Shop so popular a 16 bar build that leave's you unsuspecting of the madness which is about to be let loose. A killer thwomp and the usual ear screeching chaos, you either love it or loathe it. But there is no denying this has the power to destroy dancefloor's.

On the minimal side of thing's Joe's latest release Untitled on Apple Pips takes us on a laid-back journey which would be more suited to an elevator than a dark club. With the technique that mad Claptrap a success this one doesn't disappoint. With an airy fairy melody that seamlessly floats above the percussion on a plane of higher consciousness. If your digging this track then check out Kyle Hall - Kaychunk a similar stripped back tune.

My Drum and Bass pick of the month Rockwell - Full Circle, first real standout track in a long time. It's that nu skool industrial-techstep with comparisons to Icicle, Phace and Misanthrop. Coming of the success of his Noir Ep feat Zero T. Full Circle/My War packs a rumbling reese bass enough to make your inside's curdle. This is just the beginning from a producer just starting to find his feet, the future for Rockwell and DnB looks bright.

Also if you have'nt already heard the news Zero T's Fabric Live 52 has landed and it's the best since Martyn's. After 10 years in the game, a track record that does the talking it's about time Zero T has got some well deserved recognition. For all those who like it dark and dirty this bad boy is a beast with all types of DnB on offer with glimpses of garage, dubstep and funky.

Just to throw a spanner in my usual broken beat addiction, i've come across a house ep that has truly taken me. Boo Williams Residual Ep is straight 4 to the floor house music, with killer melody's that you just can't help but groove too. Check out this one Mortal Trance (Don't be fooled by the name).

Before I leave for another week, I have had some requests for a Drum and Bass mix. I only planned on making an hour set but once I got going and had so many tunes that I wanted to jam in I ended up exhausted and sweaty 120 minutes later. With all your favourite Artists Sub Focus, Nero, Culture Shock, Xample, Lomax, Noisia, ShockOne, Original Sin, Tantrum Desire, Dc Breaks and many more. This future funk, jump up DnB mix should keep you moving through the rest of the cold winter nights.

Peace, The Ouch!
